Andreas Anckar

Andreas Anckar has always been interested in computers and the internet.

"I made my first homepage already in elementary school," he says.

At school, mathematics and physics were subjects Andreas enjoyed and found easy, so he decided to study the field at Åbo Akademi. Through his studies he rediscovered programming and decided to focus on it.

"I think mathematics and programming go hand in hand."

Strengths: logic, creativity and visual sense

"I ended up as a web developer because it’s a great combination of logic and creativity," Andreas says.

Logic involves programming and mathematical thinking, and creativity involves visual design. Both are Andreas’s strengths.

"I enjoy every phase of building a web application — from designing visuals, user interfaces and experiences to coding all the technical details."

Andreas sees himself as a full‑stack developer, although his specialism is on the frontend side.

"Examples of technologies I enjoy working with are WordPress, React, Next.js, TypeScript and Node.

At Smartbutlers Andreas’s role includes planning and building various web-based applications such as websites, online stores and booking systems.

At Smartbutlers Andreas particularly appreciates the variety in his tasks.

"I get to develop my skills and learn new things across many different areas."

Free time with family

He spends his free time mainly with his family in Parainen. Andreas has a two-year-old son who makes sure there’s never a dull moment.

Andreas’s hobbies also include music. He is a skilled pianist and, when younger, played in bands performing various musical styles.
